Primary Goals:
1 - Ralugo is a pretty uneventful town, except for the Blood Herb Quest and getting Jamie to build a bridge. Your first time into Ralugo should be spent talking to ALL residents, collecting items, resting at the Inn (Interesting Dreams occur here), and replacing your Blue Potions with Gold Potions. Use the Blue ones then use the empty flasks at the Fountain to draw Gold Water. This will heal back both HP's and MP's. NOW you can use magic as much as you want.
2 -SPECIAL SPOILER!! It is possible to power up your Light Magic to it's most potent spell RIGHT NOW. Stand at the Gold Fountain, equip the spell called Light to the 'Select' Key and cast it. Keep on casting it. When you run out of MP's, drink the water at the fountain to restore them. Cast Light over and over, raising your Light Magic power up and up. It takes quite a while, but when you get to the higher level spells, you can cast them instead of Light(I think). You will eventually obtain the most powerful Light spells and never go up a single level. THANKS goes to MARTIN RAMIREZ (he draws the maps) for this tidbit of information. I believe this tactic may also be possible with all the magics, once you have spells in them.
3 -Lyn has the Silence Rod (water-based attack) and another Green Bracelet (in the Magicians Chest) behind her, but you cannot obtain them until after she leaves Ralugo for the Frozen Plains - much later in the game. Lyn also plays a big part in obtaining the Ichrius Crown, although you may experience some disappointment. She also sells Silver items, which help against poison. What I usually do is sell off most of the weapons I KNOW I will not use. Having 3 Long Swords and the Flame Long Sword means there are 3 Long Swords sitting unused. Sell 'em off. You can stock up on basics or get some Silver Arms or Legs for later or buy some MP restoratives. Whatever you wish. I usually stick with Flame, Capricorn, Rapier, Bow and Excellector. I also keep the best armor pieces I have and sell off the rest. Then I stock up on Earth Herbs (mainly) and save the rest for a purchase to be made from Ed Edmund later (the Fire Rod).
4 - The Blood Herb quest is necessary to obtain the first Wind Crystal (giving you access to the Palace of Winds) and after that, Jamie will build a second bridge over the Lava to give you access to Shudoms Cave. You will also gain access to the Path of Poison after completing it, although that comes a little later. Talk to Janan, and then go to the path along the lava at the most south-westerly point you can access. HUG THE WALL using the strafe (R1 & L1) keys. It is easy to fall into the lava and die. Wade through your opponents (the red Parastool can paralyze you), get the herb, bring it back to Janan. Walk away from the hut as far as Jamies House, return to Janans house and Airon will be healed! He gives you the Wind Crystal; use it immediately.

* = Must come back later or satisfy some special condition to obtain; Will be described in the Walkthrough.
Go to the Palace of Winds and return here when finished.
Upon return to Ralugo, heal/rest up, save and then head towards the Path of Poison. In the corridor near the barrels, on the North wall, is a secret compartment with a Silver Key in it. Also, search the Barrels for another Wisdom Fruit. Head back to the Inn, save, talk with Lyn until she repeats herself, then head for the Cave of Shudom. Return here when done.
Upon return from the Cave of Shudom, heal/rest up, talk to everyone (especially Lyn) although the guy named Mark Johnson seems rather elitist. He will only talk to you when you have a high enough intelligence to tell you about specific items/weapons/armor/accessories you have found. Otherwise, he likes to quote pithy sayings that don't do anything to help you. (PS - this name Mark Johnson is actually the name of one of the employees of Agetec and he is still there.)
Now, to prepare for the Path of Poison, consider the following information. The Silver ring helps reduce the time you are poisoned, but also prevents you from taking damage while walking over poison areas. However, there is one you can find very soon after entering the Path, so decide if you want to spend money on it. The Silver Arms and Silver Legs can be found in a region called the Thieves Passage, after you pass through Lake Noel. They both help you resist being poisoned. Decide if you want to spend the money. I usually have the price of the Fire Rod by now and go back to Ed Edmunds to buy it, relying on healing items and Earth Heal to keep me going.
Make sure you are current with Lyn's conversations before you go. Now head out for the Path Of Poison.
